Mullumbimby Farmers Market

Mullumbimby is an eclectic and gorgeous town located about 20min northwest of Byron. The Farmers Market is held each Friday and offers a cornucopia of locally grown produce. It’s a great place to stock up on your weekly groceries and you will find an extraordinary range of freshly picked fruits and vegetables, artisan wood-fired bread, local honey, nuts, sustainable poultry, beef, and seafood. Also, the markets offer a large range of organic produce.

If you are hungry there are many food stalls including my favourite, the ‘Nomadic Kitchen’. Rob Costnazo is the chef. Rob previously worked in London for a Michelin-starred Cafe. He uses what’s in season and is inspired by his Sicilian heritage – simple rustic, creating a wonderful menu. For example, breakfast included sautéed silverbeet marinated in olive oil and vinegar then wrapped in a hot omelet and served inside a super fresh baguette.

As I wander past table after table laden with pineapples, avocados, bananas, dutch carrots, radishes, potatoes, and so many varieties of salad greens I feel very lucky to live in the region. Here’s a link to the upcoming markets in the region – https://www.byron-bay.com/byronbay/market.html
